1. Present civilization is the civilization of science and technology. Different scientific devices are being invented day by day to make our life comfortable. Now, write a composition on 'Wonders of Modern Science' or 'Blessing of Modern Science'. Specially, mention the name of some scientific inventions telling which facilities they give to us. Also mention some misuses of scientific inventions. Wonders of Modern Science/ Blessing of Modern Science Modern civilization is the gift of science. Nuclear energy etc. are the highest blessings and wonders of modern science. Electricity is the driving force of modern civilization. It gives power and energy. Man can now remove the darkness of his room by turning a small switch. Radio is one of the marvellous inventions of modern science. It carries our small voice to the farthest corner of the world. It gives us news, songs, discussions, play, poetry etc. Television is another wonder of modern science. It is another popular medium of communicating thoughts and opinions. It is a great improvement over Radio.
Radio pleases only our sense of hearing but television pleases our senses of sight and hearing at the same time. It was invented by Bayard in 1926. Computer is one of the greatest wonders of modern science. It is substitute for the human brain. It is the latest means of communication of thoughts and ideas. In every sphere of life man has been using this wonder of modern science. Science has done great wonders in the field of medicine and treatment of patients. The X-ray, the
Pathological diagnostic devices, the Penicillin have come as real blessings to humanity. Space travel is the most wonderful success of modern science. It is possible only for invention of rocket. So, it is possible now to turn man's imagination into reality. Even scientists think of human habitation and colonization on the space. Modern science is not an unmixed blessing. Nuclear weapons may destroy the world any time. The sample of Hiroshima still stays as a nightmare experience. Science is meant for the benefit of mankind. But man misuses this heavenly gift out of his selfish motive and brings unspeakable sufferings to human life. So, the gifts of science should be utilized for the welfare of mankind. Inventions of modern science should be used as blessings. Let this gigantic power be applied for the greater harmony and welfare of the mankind.

2.Recently you had to go to Sylhet town to participate in your uncle's marriage ceremony. To go there from Dhaka you had a journey and you enjoyed the journey very much. Write a composition on "A Journey by train" narrating when was the journey made, how were the natural beauties and why was it so memorable.
A journey by train
A train is a quick and mechanized means of modern transport. So a journey by train is always fast. But it is interesting and comfortable as well. A journey by train is now a days popular and less expensive. I was expecting a long journey by train. The chance came in the last autumn. It was a very happy occasion of uncle's wedding ceremony. The function was held in Sylhet town. So we had to go from Dhaka to Sylhet, and it was really a long journey. We reached Dhaka Railway Station at Kamalpur at 6:30 a.m. Our train was the Parabot Express. It was due to leave at 7:00 a.m. We were a group of 20 people. All got on the train in time. We all had our seats reserved in the same compartment. I heard an announcement. Only three minutes later the guard blew the whistle and waved the green flag. The train started on time with a long whistle.
The speed rose gradually. The train left behind stations after stations. It passed over many fields, rivers and canals. I was always gazing outside at the natural beauties. It seemed that the trees and the houses near the railway tracks were runing back. But the things at a distance appeared to be running forward with us. When we were near Sylhet, it passed through some tea gardens. I found some women picking tea leaves. I was charmed with all these beauties. But I was impressed most with the waving sight on the surface of green corn fields and the beauty of the tea gardens. All these gave me a wonderful experience. The train reached Sylhet at 8 p.m. We were received at the station by the host party. Thus the journey ended with pleasure and enjoyment. It is still fresh in my memory.

Since the dawn of civilization man has a close relation with nature. Nature helps us in many ways. Trees are the indispensable part of nature. They are the gifts of nature. Tree gives us 'Oxygen'. But for the development of human civilization this valuable assets are damaged day by day. For the Rabindranath Tagore says, 'Give back the forest, take your town". By these lines he tries to tell us about the importance of trees. So, tree plantation is very important for our life and economy. The people of our country cut down trees at random. So, our country is losing her trees. If #ds process continues, she will turn into a desert. It is a perfect time that we plant trees to protect environment. To preserve our environment, we should plant more and more trees. Government order may be passed in order to make the people interested in planting trees. They should be made aware that our economy is dependent on trees. Trees bear a great impact on the climate. If we destroy trees at random, one day the country will turn into a great desert. The country will bear the consequences of Green House Effect. Again there will be no rain and as a result, the country will face a great crisis because ours is an agricultural country and our economy is dependent on agriculture. Again our agriculture depends on rain. So trees play a vital role on our climate. Trees keep the soil strong. Trees save us from flood and many other natural calamities. There is a model for afforestation in Bangladesh. Sea beaches, low lying areas and fallowlands can be brought under the scheme of afforestation with special types of trees suited to the soil. Shady trees and fruit trees should be planted by the side of roads and high ways. Trees may be planted in all sides of ponds and dighis in village. June and July are the best time for tree plantation. Tree plantation programme should be exparided to the remote corner of the country. Most of the people of our country do not know about the utility and the importance of trees and forests. For this reason government should make TV programme or radio programme on the subjects of afforestation. Trees are part and parcel of our life. So, it is our duty to plant more trees and take care of them in order to maintain balance between man and nature.
