Ans. Data are the collection of raw facts and figures from any sets of enquiry for the purpose from any sets of enquiry for the purpose of statistical analysis.
(3) What is Histogram? (আয়তলেখ কি?)
Or, What is meant by histogram?
Ans. Histogram is a Suitable graph for representing the frequency distribution of a continuous series.
(4) What is census? (শুমারি কি?) Or, Defination of census? (শুমারি বলতে কি বুঝ)
Ans: The total count of all units of the population for a certain characteristic is known as complete enumeration also termed census survey. In census or universa! coverage every element of the population is included in the investigation. When we make complete enumeration of all items in the population. It is known as census method of collection of data. For an example, population method of collection of data. For an example, population census Agricultural census, Counting all the students in a division etc.
So we can say the measurement or examination of every element in the population is called census.
(5) What is sample? (নমুনা কি) Or, What do you mean by sample? (নমুনা বলতে কি বুঝ?)
Ans: Sample is a very common word in our everyday life. All of us are more or less familiar with the word of sample. A sample is a representation part of a population that exhibits relevant characteristics of the population. In other way sampling is the technique of securing information about the universe by examining only a part of the sample
Popular definations are as under.
SP Gupta and M.P Gupta said "Sampling is only a tool which helps to know the characteristics of the universe or population by examining only a small part of it"
So we can say that sample is a small part of the population which represents the entire population.
(6) Write down the characteristics of statistics? (পরিসংখ্যানের বৈশিষ্ট্য আলোচনা কর।)
Or, What are the characteristics of Statistics. Or, Discuss the characteristics of business statistics. Or, Describe the characteristic of statistic.
Ans: By discussing the Definition of statistics we find some characteristics of statistics. They are as follows-
1. Systematic manner : Statistics are collected in a
systematic manner. Before collecting data or information a suitable plan of data collection must be taken.
2. Aggregate of facts : Single and isolated figures can
be statistics. Because such figures are unrelated and can not be compared. In plural sense statistics are the aggregate data.
3. Affected by multiplicity of causes : It is affected to marked extent by multiplicity of causes. For example the production of paddy depends on fertility of land manure, water etc.
4. Pre-detemined purpose: It is collected for a predetermined purpose. This must be well defined and specific.
5. Comparable relation to each other: It should be place in relation to each other. If the numerical facts are to be called statistics, they should be comparable.
6. Numerical expression : All statistics are numerical statements of facts. Quantitative statements such as the population of Bangladesh is rapidly increasing. Qualitative information cannot be statistics.
7. Resonable standard : Resonable standard should be maintain in collecting classifying presenting and enterpreting data.
So we can say that all statistics are numerical statements of facts but all numerical statement of facts are not statistics.
(7) What are the source of the collection of the secondary data? (মাধ্যমিক তথ্য সংগ্রহের বিভিন্ন উৎস আলোচনা কর।)
Or, Write down the source or methods of collection of the secondary data? (মাধ্যমিক তথ্য সংগ্রহের বিভিন্ন পদ্ধতি বর্ণনা কর।)
Ans: When the investigator uses the data that has already been collected and used by other such data are called secondary data.
The sources or methods of secondary data are as follows-
(a) Published sources: All the government, semi y government, private, international organization collect data everyday as routine work, investigator can collect data from them.
1. Government Agencies: Statistical bureau population and birth control unit, agri product marketing, Fisheries department, planning commission etc may be the sources of secondary data.
2. Semi government agencies: BADC, BCIC, BRTC etc.
3. Commission report: Such as education commission report, public service commission report, of election commission report.
4. Local government: It can be collected from local govt. organization such as union, upazilla, city corporation etc.
5. International organization: Such as FAD, IMF, UNES Co, UNDP report.
6. University and research organization: Journals of university, BARI, BIRI, ICDDRB etc.
(b) Unpublished sources: Data collected by the government, non government, NGOs and other. y organization for their own interest can be unpublished sources of secondary data. Investigation can collect data from unpublished sources.
